Maintenance
Fine art collections require care and maintenance on a routine basis to ensure their long-term protection and preservation. I provide my clients an efficient process to inspect art works, prepare condition reports, provide recommendations, and coordinate any documentation, cleaning, moves, reframing, or conservation necessary.
Conservation
I can offer you valuable advice and direction should your artworks require conservation or restoration. I have 25 years experience with conservation issues and working with conservators.
Archiving
A complete inventory of your art collection can be provided, including a digital photograph. A database can then be created which can be cross-referenced and easily used for inventory control. Accessions, or archives, are long-term records that you will use to facilitate management of your collection. They will provide information to anyone working with your artworks for any purpose - appraisers, curators, loan officers, shippers, estate planners, lawyers, Revenue Canada, etc. Archives are the comprehensive record of your artworks.
Valuations
Professional appraisals for valuation can be prepared. I am accredited with the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) as a personal property appraiser with a specialty in fine art. I have received training and passed the examinations in appraisal theory, principles, procedures, ethics and the law. My appraisals are written in accordance with the Appraisal Foundation's Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and the Code of Ethics and Report Writing Standard of the ISA. Please refer to the section on this website titled Appraisals.

The painting on this page is by early Toronto figure painter Joshua Joseph Biehn (active 1891 - 1932), and is titled Portrait of an Elderly Black Man, 1899
The subject is thought to be Alfred Butler, a well-known Toronto newsvendor. A newspaper clipping referring to Butler is laid down to the verso of the painting.
