Placements

The placement of fine art is critical to its effective display and protection. Proper placement of the artwork will give the environment a harmonious feeling, eliminate physical stresses, and limit environmental deterioration. I can re-design the layout of your art collection, or we can move just one or two artworks. Moving a single artwork or rotating an entire art collection is a wonderful way to see your art anew, and to reinvigorate your environment.

Installations

My associate preparator is skilled and experienced in hanging virtually every kind of art in a variety of environments. We know the proper techniques, we use the right tools and equipment, and we follow the correct protocols. We assist clients with the installation of any number of pieces, from one piece to an entire collection. During installations any hardware deficiencies will be corrected and the artworks will be checked for damages, the glazing properly cleaned, and if necessary, recommendations made for re-framing or conservation. Arrangements can be made to update inventory records during collection rotations.

Lighting

Setting lighting is part of the installation process. Improper lighting can damage artworks while proper illumination will enhance its aesthetic appeal. We have expertise in setting lighting and have worked with a wide variety of types of lighting in many different environments. We will assess lighting levels for both conservation and display and make recommendations for fixtures and wattage.

Custom Framing

Framing is critical to a work of art for both presentation and protection. Improper framing can, and all too often does, damage art works. Poor frame choice is also a missed opportunity to best showcase the work of art and in turn your environment. I work with the finest framers who have expertise in creating museum-quality frames. They are skilled in a variety of framing crafts, including standard and custom wood finishes, standard and custom metal finishes, Plexiglas boxes, shadow boxes, lacquer, and white and yellow custom gold leafing. I recommend that only archival materials be used with original works of art for conservation reasons. Because of the volume of framing I am able to coordinate, I am able to negotiate discounts that will be passed along to my clients.

Shipping and Delivery

I can advise you on shipping your artworks. I know how to safely move fine art within the city, within the province, nationally or internationally. I use only selected movers who know how to safely handle fine art. If crates are appropriate for shipping, my associate will custom build them according to contemporary museum standards. I will make all the arrangements for pickup and delivery, and administer the paperwork.

Coordination of Specialty Items

I can make recommendations regarding your special needs. With my associates we can design and manage the fabrication of any pedestals and plinths, Plexiglas cases, mounts or supports, custom hooks or hangers, artwork text labels, or any installation or exhibition-related items needed for display. We have extensive experience producing exhibitions, from planning and production to the final show. I work with the finest designers, carpenters, mount-makers, conservators and restorers, preparators and technicians. We will make your display special!
